What a family should do if they face a natural disaster and they loose everything?
"Stay safe and pick up pieces"
You´ve survived a natural disaster. But much of you care about may not have survived. Perhaps you´ve lost things of great value to you, irreplaceable things that represent your past and your family´s heritage.
Perhaps you´ve lost loved ones your home, farm, or job. In the face of these losses, you may also have lost self-esteem. When people experience loss, they also experience grief. Grief is as human and inescapable as growing up and growing old.
Some of the common reactions that occur are:
Fear
Anxiety
Sadness
Depression
Negative view of the world
Moodness
Problems concentrating
Difficulty in school
Wanting to be alone more often than usual, or not wanting to be alone at all
Difficulty sleeping nightmares
When a family loses everything because of a natural disaster, it´s hard to start over, howover you have to think about all the family members and ask if they are well. Although the situation is difficult you always have to rely on GOD and try to start again.
To face this situation can be taken into account:
Don´t look back on the past, no matter how much it hurts you. That will just bring back hurtful memories. Plan for the future as a fresh start. This is a time in life when you may be more free to relocate or change other life choices.
Work on rebuilding life and marriage at the same time. Imagine your new home as your marriage and as it builds itself up you bild yourself up.
Do not take responsibility other people´s feelings.Take responsibility for your own feelings and don´t accuse your spouse of anything in this time.
Take care of the children the best that you can.
Finally, think of others and help others. It´s one of the most effective ways to empower yourself when you feel helpless.
